An open-source method for building with AI

Your AI.A whole team.

Give your coding assistant clear roles, shared context and a method to move your project forward.

Your project. Your tools. A shared way of working.

Fits where you already work

Good answers are a start.Give them a direction.

BMAD+ adds a structured set of agent instructions, skills and workflows to your project. Your existing AI assistant uses them to turn a request into defined work, with context and review along the way.

Installed locally in your repository. Run by the AI tool you choose.

Four core roles. One shared project.

Open a role to see how to start a conversation.

AtlasStrategy & product

Decide what deserves to be built.

Explore the problem, challenge assumptions and shape a product brief or requirements document before implementation.

Try this in your AI assistant

Atlas, help me define the scope of an invoicing app for freelancers.
ForgeArchitecture & development

Make the plan concrete.

Discuss architecture, implement a scoped task and document the choices that future work depends on.

Try this in your AI assistant

Forge, propose an architecture and implement the first user story.
SentinelQuality & review

Look for what the first pass missed.

Review changes, plan useful tests and examine the user experience against the requirements of the task.

Try this in your AI assistant

Sentinel, review this change and check the critical user flows.
NexusPlanning & coordination

Keep the work moving together.

Break a project into stories, organize a sprint and guide the workflow with checkpoints. Parallel work depends on the capabilities of your AI tool.

Try this in your AI assistant

Nexus, turn this brief into a prioritized plan with review checkpoints.

A method in your project. In one command.

Open a terminal in your project folder. The installer helps you select packs and configure the adapters for your AI tools.

Run in your project directoryCurrent release v0.13.0
npx [email protected] install

Requires Node.js 20 or newer. Some optional packs have additional runtime or API requirements.

  1. Install your foundation

Run the command, select your tools and choose the packs you need. Core is included.

  2. Open your usual AI tool

Start a session in the project so your tool can load its generated adapter and the agent instructions.

  3. Ask for a role or a plan

Say “Atlas, help me scope this project” or ask for bmad-help to discover the available agents and skills.

Before your first session

Is BMAD+ an AI model or a separate coding app?

BMAD+ is a framework of agent instructions, skills, workflows and a CLI installer. It works inside compatible AI coding tools. You use the model, account and tool access you already have. It does not include a model subscription.

Do I need a special initialization command after installation?

Install BMAD+ in your project, then open your AI tool in that folder so it can read the generated instructions. Ask for bmad-help, call an agent by name, or describe your task. bmad-help, autopilot and parallel are conversation instructions for your AI assistant, not standalone shell commands.

Does every tool execute agents in parallel?

The framework describes how to divide and coordinate work. Actual parallel execution and tool use depend on the host assistant. Installing an adapter does not add a background worker service or guarantee that every host supports the same execution features.

Can I use it in an existing project?

Yes. Run the installer from the existing project directory and select the relevant adapters and packs. Keep your usual version control workflow. Managed-file tracking helps the updater distinguish shipped files from local customizations.

Bring a little more method to your next build.
